Pros

The locations are nice, and the clients are great. You get a lot of good gratis. The product training is good , that is, if your manager finds it important to schedule regular trainings. It's a laid-back environment on a day to day basis, but very stressful when district manager shows up or says she's going to come in. Has the potential to be a good-paying, fun job even with all the cleaning and operations and stock but instead it creates an environment where the store manager can do as they please and play favorites.

Cons

No one has definitive answers to your questions regarding vacation or commissions or job duties. The company does not follow California labor laws. Managers/district manager are very very unprofessional. You feel like if you get on manager's or district manager's "bad side" you are at risk of being treated badly. Very negative environment. You can't view your clock ins/outs before it's sent to payroll. Hard to get a hold of anyone at corporate for information. Poor onboarding training. The environment creates lazy managers because there is no accountability; no one can tell the store manager anything. The estheticians are expected to help customers on the floor but are paid low hourly wages. Employees are expected to clean the entire store (mop floors, clean Windows and glass, dust/Windex shelves, clean restrooms/toilets, etc) after working 8+ hour day. They want us to exude luxury and elegance but event days have a $20 budget, most of which gets spent on the mandatory balloons. The company is always trying to cut corners, even at the employees expense. Company doesn't pay holiday pay. Hard to get time off because the stores are always short staffed due to high turn over rates. Not enough employees to have anyone cover shifts. Big sales like holiday party and summer party require employees to work 3+ consecutive open to close days. Inventory is also 930am to 11pm for some employees. Most stores have no break room, or even anywhere to sit on your lunch. Refrigerator provided is very small; fits maybe 2 lunches when there are 5 employees on average. Register and clienteling system is outdated and frustrating to customers. Customer information (name, address, credit card #) is left in unlocked "presale binders" for the big sale parties.

Pros

Business hours and get to meet some great clients

Cons

Lack of recognition for hard workers. No pay increase. Some employees are getting paid 30+ an hour at most stores and complain about a couple of cents from pay increase where people like myself is getting paid $10 less with no pay increase. Full time employees will do the most work more than anyone else, including management. Management also receives the most recognition over the employees that do the most work. This company has been bought out by Macy’s so I don’t think they care to hear what employees have to say.
