Pros
The work is super compelling and the space industry is exciting and constantly evolving. It's fun to keep up. There are so many facets to this business, you can't help but gain interesting and critical knowledge and dig into and solve problems and puzzles every day. The team I work on is dynamic, smart AF, and fun to be around. The organizations we work with are filled with people who educate, and have legit business needs. Our focus on mission assurance, quality, and safety is always forefront, so there's really no confusion around what I'm contributing to.
Cons
The company has growing pains and when we're hiring like crazy and spinning up new people and new organizations it can get exhausting. We try on different processes, fail and move on to the next flavor. We don't have enough people to do the amount of work expected. Upper leadership is sometimes very disconnected and I don't feel heard by those levels. My group is losing the "take your dog to work" benefit, so I'm not thrilled about that. Change is hard sometimes and I don't really consider myself change-averse, but some concrete, empowering leadership would be welcome. All this said, there is a really high attrition rate, and that's hard on the rest of us.
