Pros

Strong mission and brand recognition Passionate and hardworking employees who genuinely care about the community. Cool events if you make it long enough. great people to work with 100% remote if that matters to you.

Cons

Lack of resources makes it extremely difficult to perform your job effectively you have to scrape or invest your own money into tools to make your job performance better. Leadership consistently ignores employee feedback and implements last-minute changes without transparency or communication, creating an environment where trust is nonexistent. Compensation is a major issue. Many employees work multiple jobs just to afford the cost of living, while leadership is well compensated yet they want to know if you are working another job outside of them despite them not paying you enough. Raises and promotions are rare employees can work for years without a salary increase or recognition for their contributions. There is little transparency in job expectations. Roles frequently change due to constant reorganizations, leaving employees doing work they were never hired for. Turnover is extremely high, with people coming in and out ,going at an alarming rate due to burnout, disrespect, and lack of growth opportunities. Internal talent is overlooked in favor of external hires. Long-term employees are repeatedly passed over for promotions despite consistently proving themselves, creating frustration and disengagement or trust to grow, false promises are a thing here where they say one thing and never deliver on that. Leadership lacks clear vision and realistic goal-setting. Revenue targets are set without providing the tools, resources, or support needed to achieve them. Employees are expected to figure it out on their own, often outsourcing tools personally just to keep up. While leadership publicly promotes equity and fair pay, those values are not reflected internally. Symbolic gestures like merchandise or books are offered in place of meaningful compensation or bonuses, which feels dismissive given the workload and expectations. Will micromanage you if you are not hitting goal, with increase meetings, check ins that feel almost like borderline harassment which puts pressure and a negative team moral among everyone. I witness where they let leadership (iykyk) take credit for launches of new products, events and initiatives, where the employee does not get compensated or credit for.

Pros

The health insurance wasn't a nightmare to navigate.

Cons

Blavity's micromanagement was absolutely suffocating. I literally could not send a client email without someone questioning my word choice or demanding to know why I included that person on the thread. Every single decision got routed through some approval chain and nobody would even explain why they said no, just "not approved" and silence. I started to feel like my manager was waiting for me to fail, like the hiring process was a mistake and now I had to prove myself every single day all over again. By my third month there I completely stopped suggesting anything because every idea got was the kind of slow trust erosion where you don't notice it happening until you realize you've already mentally checked out.
