Pros

- genuinely good people "on the floor" who are smart and passionate about their jobs - company is in a great place financially

Cons

- culture stems from the top down, and our c-level management has historically done a very poor job of addressing a variety of issues (high turnover, burnout, lack of benefits, etc.). however, i think they are on the right track with trying to improve some of those things. - robert, our CEO, cannot handle any type of constructive criticism or feedback. i've never seen a leader ban anonymous questions from being posted in all-hands. his aggressive reactions make it impossible for any type of honest discussion, and no one speaks up because they are afraid of the repercussions. - shady business practices.. they'll happily spend stupid amounts of money on domain names and scouting amazon execs, but raises are practically unheard of. raises are supposedly based on "individual performance", but it's really just throwing money at X number of people at the end of a quarter who haven't received one in awhile or may be at risk of leaving.

Pros

The engineering team is strong and truly cares about doing things the right way. We run systems at meaningful scale, billions of messages a day, so you end up dealing with real complexity. It’s not a typical SaaS environment, which keeps the problems interesting. We’ve also been using modern AI tools heavily to transform productivity, and people are strongly encouraged to experiment with them. There’s real ownership, and you can see the impact of your work quickly. Remote flexibility has continued to be a key benefit as well.

Cons

It’s a fast-moving environment and can feel chaotic at times, especially if you prefer a lot of structure or predictability. Priorities and processes have naturally shifted as the company has evolved. Communication across functions isn’t always perfect, and at times the pace has made goals or longer-term direction less clear than they might otherwise be.

Pros

Move fast, there is no bureaucracy. You have a lot of freedom to build what you want.

Cons

Significant leadership vacuum at the top. The CEO has laid claim to multiple titles, overseeing departments in which he has little competency. He has created a chaotic environment, fueled by anxiety, in which the overall goals are pathetically conveyed as promises of the next big thing, but in reality, the inability to manage large scale projects leaves teams perpetually pivoting to address the whims of the CEO rather than the needs of the product.
