Pros
Bennett is a small company so there can be focus on your specific goals/ learning styles. Management is mostly receptive to your input on company direction or policy. Great extra benefits such as health & phone stipends. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and you will feel appreciated most of the time. Management does want you to grow in your career and will do what they can to help you along the way. There is little to no corporate drama within the engineers, and most people are a pleasure to work with! I feel confident in the outlook and profitability of the company even with many of the economic uncertainties ahead in 2026.
Cons
Not allowing new hires to contribute to their retirement plan until the 6-month probation period has finished is not looked well upon. Bennett at least should allow the employee to contribute to their 401k during the probation period, other companies I have worked for will still match during the probation period but if the employee leaves before that probation period is over, they would not receive the company match.
Bennett also does not reimburse you for costs of obtaining your PE license until you officially obtain your PE. Other companies will reimburse you immediately after passing portions of the PE such as the 8-hour, surveying, & seismic exams. Many of the younger staff have expressed their dissatisfaction of this policy since its inception with no revisions.
