Pros

You receive exceptional exposure to how high-level macro analysis is truly done. The team is filled with remarkably sharp thinkers, and working there can genuinely help you develop a strong macro framework—provided you have the capacity and curiosity to absorb it.

Cons

The environment can be heavily ego-driven, with limited respect or recognition for junior contributors. Client exposure seems to have inflated a sense of self-importance among some teams, and not everyone demonstrates the level of expertise they project. A small number of people genuinely drive the intellectual output, while many others simply follow instructions. Compensation, career growth, and internal support are minimal, making it a challenging place for anyone seeking long-term development. Success often depends more on tolerating difficult treatment than on merit or performance. There is also a tendency for management to over-promise, under-deliver, and prioritize extraction over employee well-being. Based on the culture and structure, it is difficult to imagine the firm sustaining itself over the very long term.

Intellectually challenging. Strategists truly debate and values integrity of research above anything else.

Cons

Have to put in the hard work, but you learn in return.

Pros

I've been at BCA for 15 months and it's been the highlight of my career. You might think I'm biased because I'm the CEO. Perhaps. Regardless, here's my perspective: - An incredible place to start one's career. The Strategists here are titans in their field (global macro), and because we're a tight-knit culture mostly based in Montreal & London, there are lots of opportunities to get mentorship, learn, and grow. - Genuinely nice people. Like truly kind. Care about and look after each other. Collaborative. - Intellectual firepower is through the roof. I wouldn't want to go head to head with a single colleague on Jeopardy. - Passionate lovers of macro and global affairs. Lots of different languages spoken around the office. Heterogenous, multi-national, and curious. Very few colleagues are transactional; they're at BCA because they're passionate about their work. - Again, yes I'm biased, but given the enduring and growing need for macro insights, I expect growth to continue to accelerate, our brand profile to grow, and opportunities to proliferate. - We are the essential source of macro insight. If you want to go beyond the conventional wisdom of global macro, you simply need us. We think different. And we mean it.

Cons

The company is 75 years old, so as with any company with such a proud heritage, we need to increasingly benefit from fresh perspective in order to grow, modernize, and adapt.
