Pros

flexible days and hours independent working situation most drivers are good guys (and yes mostly blokes) - you meet people and see places you might not otherwise - though expect a fair few of those places to be industrial estates or dealerships - If you get on the right circuit and work out all the ways to speed up the checks you can earn £60-100 per day (but expect to work from 7am-6/7pm - If you are ok with driving then this could be preferable to those other 'flexible' jobs like call center work.

Cons

- Long hours fluctuating pay - inconsistent and borderline illegal expenses policy - a company culture pretty lacking in anything resembling initiative or positive attitude. - some practices that go on in BCA- in terms of health & safety & abusing 'self employed status' are borderline illegal. - Runner drivers who ferry other delivery drivers around can be driving for 12 hours solid with hardly any breaks (BCA will say they don't have to do that - but in reality they DO just to get the job done) - Poor training that does not reflect the reality of the job in any way and was even incorrect on some things (you will learn most of how the job actually works from other drivers) - occasional ignorant aggressive drivers (literally anyone can end up doing this - from retired CEO's and teachers to a bum) - A lot of the drivers are retired guys and frankly BCA relies on using people like this who don't rely on it for a full time wage. These guys are mostly nice but some of them have been doing this job for years and are a bit stuck in their ways.

Pros

-Trusted to work -Work life balance ok -Weekends off -Bosses improved and were nicer to staff - sympathetic to genuine illness and accommodating of medical conditions

Cons

-Workload fell off a cliff sat around for hours but still expected to work or 'find something to do' - was promoted several times only to have the position taken away due to lack of work - went through several redundancy proceeding so never felt safe - company has burned too many bridges with clients in automotive industry -4 on 4 off became weekends off and long hours in week from halving the staff -too many sites are shutting down so you never feel safe in job -staff who should be fired for misconduct kept and treated like heroes, workers made to feel useless and made redundant -can be toxic depending on department worked and if your face fits -redundancy pay incorrect and ripped off. Ignored all emails and communication from me - HR useless
