Pros
Working with some very clever people Immediate management is supportive and friendly Can get to work on cutting-edge projects with some very interesting clients
Cons
Sudden removal of benefits over the course of the previous year, without consultation or adequate explanation. The few staff communication emails received from board level are heavily dressed up in management speak and positive spin, and have very little relevant information. Lots of time wasted begging management for time sheet cost codes as project budgets are so stretched. Purchase orders for relatively small amounts are routinely refused with no adequate explanations given. No accessible training budget/time. I started work with the company as a graduate almost two years ago and I have not received any training that would benefit my day-to-day work or further develop my career (despite numerous requests). Review/promotion process is based on who you know and what year you joined the company rather than how good you are at your job. Politics and arrogance at the middle management level can prevent you from furthering your career or making a transfer to a different department/team (unless you do the necessary bum kissing). Expectation that you will be working late almost every night without overtime pay or recognition, so as to minimise hourly staff costs on internal projects.
