Pros

Freedom to experiment in your own time

Cons

One of the major issues within Axonista is the huge lack of communication between management and employees. They claim to be a start up but completely lack the mentality. Daily stand up never happened during my time here and you’ll be pulled from every side to work on whatever management feel is important to them at the time (leading to incomplete work and wasting time). Management want to have complete control over everything within the company and due to this they are constantly juggling things from every department and unwilling to let other employees make informed decisions. The employee break room is non existent due to it being occupied on a daily basis for unimportant reasons. Its guaranteed you won’t be socialising with any other employees and you’ll be eating your lunch at your desk. Due to this lack of culture there is a depressing office atmosphere as barely any employees speak to each other. There’s a sense of relief when management are not in the office as you will feel they’re watching your every move and ready to discipline if even one minute late. Bickering between management within the office (and even during meetings) caused unease and led to an unfavourable atmosphere in the office. Arrogant management will belittle you and other employees on a daily basis with either sly remarks or critiquing your work as if you have no integrity. Instances where employees have been spoken to in such a disgusting manner makes me question why I didn’t quit sooner. I wish someone would have informed of all these downfalls before I joined.

Pros

Working at Axonista for the past 5 years has been a wonderful experience. As a backend engineer working on an innovative product such as Ediflo allowed me to develop my skills further with a team of talented, supportive colleagues. The CTO gave us the freedom to use the best technologies for the job and everyone is given the encouragement to share ideas and have their voice heard. Some of the exciting technologies you can expect to work with are Kubernetes, Docker, Go and MongoDB. Its a fun and friendly environment with regular team activities and excursions, which is a great opportunity to meet the remote team members. Lab days are always fun and exciting, we explore new technologies, collaborate with colleagues and demo our results.

Cons

None, it's a great place to work and further your career.
