Technically excellent colleagues, very little management support for career progression, very cliquey management. - Managing Consultant Axon Solutions Employee Review

Pros

Some of the 'old hand' consultants are the best in the industry - you can pick up a lot from working with them.

Cons

In practice, and very ironically, there is very an 'Employee Last' policy in place. You'd rather go on a project close to home: they'll place you on a project far away - and you'll have no say in it. You want to go on training: the project manager will almost always refuse - because it means lost revenue or an awkward explanation to the client. And so on - your interests as an employee are only of marginal interest. The management clique is very annoying too: favours will be handed out to 'mates' of various senior managers - contrary to the stated expense policy. E.g. business class flights, where economy should be booked, whereas an 'average Joe' may well be placed on the cheaper weekend disrupting economy flight - deeply annoying when you are flogging your guts out for the company. Very unenlightened family unfriendly policies. Most other consultancies encourage consultants to work from home on Fridays, if projects are far away from home on client sites. Whereas, in practice most HCL Axon project managers will stop their consultants doing this - even if it is common practice with client and with the non HCL Axon consultants on the project. They want to show that HCL Axon is pushing its staff harder than others.

Pros

Great people, competitive salaries and benefits, good projects. People support each other and work toward the common goal. Overall a great company to work for. I left voluntarily and would go back for the right opportunity.

Cons

The equipment provided is pretty dodgy; many consultants provide their own laptops. Also, the requested admin software is only provided for the duration of the project and has to be renewed. It can be a cumbersome process and can go out of date while you are in the middle of crunch-time. Seems penny-wise and pound foolish. Doesn't show much consideration for the consultants in that respect. Review process is not very transparent, at least it doesn't seem so.
