Pros

- okay pay if you’re a student fresh out of school - You get to work at a tech company started and running in WV - There are some really great, kind, and talented engineers working there - They have a good tech stack - Good work/life balance

Cons

- Incredibly high turnover rate . They fire and or switch out employee positions literally several times a month. - Management roles are determined by who is closest with the CEO - The CEO had his business and success given to him. There’s a celebrated culture of the underdog mentality , and yet the CEO seemingly knows nothing of struggle. He fired several engaged employees during the pandemic without compensation - and not because of a lack of money. - The CEO is very involved in direct decision making , but knows almost nothing about software development . Your job security will depend on how much one or two people like you or understand your work, who will give that understanding to the CEO. - Dominance based leadership is favored over that of prestige . - There’s a weird artificial care here . That kind of “we’re a family” type of deal with lots of false promises . Yet believe me when I say after firing employees others cared about and respected , they tried to increase morale by buying Doritos , getting a new coffee machine, and buying mini golf and a throwing game. They don’t care .

Pros

- Remote - Many cool coworkers - Great product - Easy job description - Small company so everybody knows everybody

Cons

- Promotions based on if they like you or not, not based on work output or leadership qualities. - Promotions for this specific position do not come with any raise, only a bonus multiplier so you have to hit the bonus to make anything extra. - Recently removed monthly performance based bonus structure and cut yearly pay by at least $30k by introducing a quarterly sales driven commission plan that will likely not achieve more than $1000 quarterly. - No merit raises in 3 years. Even the most valuable employees are told to kick rocks if they ask for a raise. - Everybody is paid on a seemingly nonsensical scale with one person doing the same job for $65k while another does it for over $100k. It’s based on “expertise,” but most have been here 2-4 years, have similar qualifications, and do the same job. - They tell us not to discuss pay with each other because of the large pay discrepancies and I am 99% sure that’s an NLRA violation. Obviously people still talk because they are disgruntled or I wouldn’t have salary information for at least 8 coworkers.
