Pros
Remote-first work, the tech is cool when it works. Hours are flex, which is nice.
Cons
Pay is weak. "but the stock options!" is a weak counter argument. This company most likely will not be around much longer. Benefits are weak. Career advancement is unclear. Pay raises do not exist. CEO is absent. Most communication from him are via email with a single emoji (his favorite is "fist bump"). CEO is delusional about the product, as is most senior leadership. The quarterly townhalls with the CEO are surreal. His rants come out of nowhere and go nowhere. Engineering is in Europe (Bulgaria) and completely disconnected from how customers use the product. Engineering seems to be building what they want with little direct supervision from Product. Speaking of which, current head of product is out of her depth. The current push to containers is a dumpster fire. So many things wrong. So many things broken. Customers want scalability but engineering really isn't interested in building that, probably because it's hard. Customer Success is -- this week -- in the sales area. They have shuffled around customer success multiple times in the past few years. Fired most of the customer success people last year. It's hard to keep track. People get fired silently. They just disappear. Communication is fractured and siloed. Microsoft is slowly boxing out competitors in this space and AtScale is very slow or very unrealistic to adopt.
