Pros
Good work experience for junior career seekers (High School/Recent grads). Occasional free food. Some decent people to work with.
Cons
Contrary to Ashfield Healthcare's name. This is not a "healthcare" company. If you are from Pharma and looking to Ashfield for a similar environment within the Ft Washington Commercial/Clinical space, please be warned that Ashfield is a contract vendor that hires employees on behalf of Pharma. Very similar to a temp agency or recruiter. Ashfield itself does not provide healthcare services - the sponsor company pays to recruit and train based on the specific project. If you are from Pharma and expecting big budgets, well-educated employees, and work-life balance - I would suggest keep looking unless you are desperate. The ability to grow in the organization is limited if you are mid-senior level. Promotions are non-existent and raises to salaried and nonsalaried employees are laughable. It took me 3 years to get my first 2% raise. The contracts that pay for Ashfield services are never guaranteed, many sponsors end contracts early leaving a gaping hole in the bonus pool. The organisation is dictated by the head office in the UK, which is challenging because their way of management and culture differs greatly from the US. As such, they have implanted executive leadership from the UK in the US that have one singular goal; maximise revenues while reducing expenses. Hence the volatility in layoffs to essential HQ employees when sales are down. I have witnessed the leadership team make staffing decisions based on unethical circumstances (race, sexual orientation, physical appearance). In addition to several incidents where women are sexually harassed by a member of the business development team. Do not be fooled by their social media presence, as one other reviewer mentioned - Ashfield is shiny on the outside, but turmoil on the inside. The business is constantly chasing revenue goals that are unrealistic and often rely on acquisitions to meet their revenue goals. The office environment isn't horrible, you get an open space workstation so management can monitor your every move.
