Pros

Ascendco has found its place in a very niche part of the healthcare industry that needs disruption. If done well, it could be a successful business.

Cons

The biggest challenge that Ascendco faces as a business is that they have a severe culture problem. This culture problem extends from the top down and the “review” from 4/19/2024 from one of the most tenured employees at the company is a perfect example of the culture here. Ascendco has a very difficult time retaining people, and instead of looking inward and trying to understand why there is such high turnover (especially in their Chicago office), they outcast those individuals and label them as “losers” or “haters,” pointing the finger elsewhere without taking any accountability. I can say with almost complete certainty that all of these “losers that are sad” have never been happier since moving on from this company and the toxic environment it creates. Consider other options, or at least do yourself a favor and reach out any of the many past employees of this company you can find on LinkedIn to learn more about their experience. P.S. In case the 4/19/2024 post gets removed for whatever reason, see below for what one of the most tenured employees’ advice to management was regarding their former colleagues: "Ignore the haters, they are just losers that are sad they couldn't meet the bar of being the best.”

Pros

Unlike most tedious data jobs, this one takes technical analysis that make my days fly by. Bringing the data to life with analytics allows me to see my work and the benefits it is bringing to the sterile processing and surgical industry.

Cons

40 hours in a week often isn’t enough time to get what you want to get done.

Pros

I can truly say that everyone I’ve worked with at Ascendco really believes in the mission and are incredibly supportive in ensuring mutual success for everyone. There is not a “totem pole” structure and I feel confident (and encouraged) to reach out to leadership for feedback & support. Even as an entry level employee, you are encouraged to take ownership of what you’re doing and are able to exhibit flexibility into pursuing your ideas. The co-founders are very involved in the mission and are aware of all initiatives and day-to-day tasks of employees and are always there to provide support. Specifically in the Chicago office, we have a very collaborative culture which makes it really easy to work cross-functionally. Everyone is very open to new ideas and always encouraging feedback on your role which sets the stage for high growth opportunities. As someone who thrives on doing something different everyday and being myself at work, I love that I’m encouraged to experiment to try new things and am allowed the flexibility to determine what my day-to-day looks like.

Cons

This is a high ownership culture so you have the ability to be pretty self-directed. Ascendco has consistently grown a lot both with new health systems and new products/features always launching so you have to be a quick learner and be comfortable learning as you go.
