Pros

Some of the staff are great to work with

Cons

I dont know where to begin. I wouldn't recommend working here, especially in the early stages of your career, mostly because of confusing expectations and inconsistency from leadership. One day they'll tell you its a remote position, next day you'll be told you need to be in an office three days a week. Sometimes leadership is in a good mood and will be easy to work with. Other times you cant tell where their heads are. At times you will get totally different objectives from leadership, and then be reprimanded if you went one direction over the other. You'll also be required to travel much more than they tell you in the beginning. This travel will require you to work outside of normal working hours most of the time, with no extra compensation. Speaking of compensation, there doesnt seem to be any bonus structure or clear paths to raises annual or otherwise. Compensation does not include cost of transportation, nor are their any perks to working in the office besides being able to collaborate with peers in person. Leadership plays clear favoritism and will sometimes pit you against peers. Theres high pressure to complete task but not enough support to get things across the finish line.

Pros

Unlike most tedious data jobs, this one takes technical analysis that make my days fly by. Bringing the data to life with analytics allows me to see my work and the benefits it is bringing to the sterile processing and surgical industry.

Cons

40 hours in a week often isn’t enough time to get what you want to get done.

Pros

I can truly say that everyone I’ve worked with at Ascendco really believes in the mission and are incredibly supportive in ensuring mutual success for everyone. There is not a “totem pole” structure and I feel confident (and encouraged) to reach out to leadership for feedback & support. Even as an entry level employee, you are encouraged to take ownership of what you’re doing and are able to exhibit flexibility into pursuing your ideas. The co-founders are very involved in the mission and are aware of all initiatives and day-to-day tasks of employees and are always there to provide support. Specifically in the Chicago office, we have a very collaborative culture which makes it really easy to work cross-functionally. Everyone is very open to new ideas and always encouraging feedback on your role which sets the stage for high growth opportunities. As someone who thrives on doing something different everyday and being myself at work, I love that I’m encouraged to experiment to try new things and am allowed the flexibility to determine what my day-to-day looks like.

Cons

This is a high ownership culture so you have the ability to be pretty self-directed. Ascendco has consistently grown a lot both with new health systems and new products/features always launching so you have to be a quick learner and be comfortable learning as you go.
