Pros
Working at a university is great if you want to learn about your field... or other fields. The tuition waiver for employees and their spouse/children is wonderful.
Cons
If I had stayed in my position, I would have had salary raises, but very little opportunity to take on more responsibility. I would not have had opportunity for career advancement.
