Where education becomes corporate - Instructional Designer Arizona State University Employee Review

Pros

When you do agree with higherups and have good projects, it was a decent time. The people (minus the higherups) were good, there was plenty of growth opportunity, and it legitimately felt like working towards a better education goal.

Cons

When you butted heads with management, be prepared for the worst. Be fluent in corporatese, to put in 110% effort (including side projects and opportunities you yourself better seek out,) and not speak out when they do something stupid like champion AI in everything (despite all the studies and material evidence doing so in colleges is tantamount to academic poison.) And, whatever you do, do not stay more than a year and nine months because the work becomes worse and you get nothing out of doing so.

Pros

Highly interactive job where you meet lots of different students and form connections

Cons

I don't like the administration changes that they have implemented in 2026. It more dictatorial now and tutor who are the face of their organization are not given much voice.
