Pros
1. Exposure to sound management practices especially decision making methodologies (narrative writing et al) 2. High prevalence of autonomy (at least in the function). Goal setting is maturity map driven and very bottoms-up 3. Very competitive pay and very good variable payouts (despite being less than 5 years old, the company is very profitable) 4. Good career growth assuming one has made sufficient efforts (the org indexes heavily on performance)
Cons
1. There is an overt focus on internal ways of working (granted they are fairly sound). While that has led to success in the past the general athlete talent philosophy could be restrictive from a functional preparedness standpoint especially for higher order roles where thought leadership is expected. 2. Work life balance has been an issue on most times given the quantum of work. However, of late , staffing has significantly improved to cater to the function's charter. 3. Decision making is overly consensus driven. Hampers execution speed at times especially for those executing. However , I have seen improvements in this area of late. 4.Some times the management practices that we espouse are overused with every small decision requiring narratives et al. Some of them should be solved over a 30 minute conversation.
