Pros

Gain experience, stepping stone. Macro management style by operations manager, not Account Mangers or producers if you’re an assistant. Early office closure for holidays. Decent holiday events. Benefits are subpar.

Cons

Being completely overloaded with work, treated like a third class citizen by management as well as Account Managers. Absolutely no training or structure with regards to on boarding whatsoever for new hires. Be expected to be given your login and password and start working on your second day. Pulled into numerous directions by producers and expected to drop everything you’re doing to assist them. Management talks the talk but does not walk the walk, in fact, if you want to keep your job, grin and bear the daily nuances. Innovation and fresh ideas are not welcomed. Majority of the staff have one foot out the door to retirement and don’t care to foster and help develop new talent. Big on delegation, not in a positive way. No respect if you are in a role below an account manager.

Pros

I’ve found the culture in Alliant’s Atlanta EB Consulting practice to be highly collaborative and accountable, both to one another and to our clients. What stands out most is the respect for different perspectives, the opportunity to lead at every level, and the value placed on each person’s experience and contributions. Alliant has an entrepreneurial environment, which means there is room to move ideas forward without unnecessary red tape. Strong performance is recognized, and people are encouraged to grow based on their ability and initiative rather than simply waiting their turn. There is also real access to leadership, and people are open to better ideas when it benefits the team and our clients. What makes this team special is the people. There is a lot of talent here, but not a lot of ego. In my experience, that combination creates a supportive, high-performing environment and makes Alliant a great place to build a career.

Cons

Over time, I have seen that this work is not for everyone. Benefits consulting is a client-service business, and the pace, ambiguity, and changing priorities can be challenging for people who prefer a more predictable environment.
