Pros

Team who sometimes helps, flexible with you at times, extremely nice employees. Pay was great. Medical/supplement ins. Only dental allowance. 401k.

Cons

No bonuses, If you get on the bad side of an individual it will make your life like hell. No lunch. Very fast paced. No control on schedule, treatment recommended. Some two face employees (which you’ll have at almost any job). I personally feel that you have no control to change patients recall treatment if you feel as it’s not “prophy” unless you have an senior hygienist approve. Did a lot of bloody prophys, almost all patients even perio patients are considered “prophys” up till recently when they are doing the 4910 code which has very little acceptance rate. Accept late patients. No adjuncts provided for example electric toothbrush, OCS, LAA, etc. overall they do have some good values just feel like they can improve more to have a better acceptance in patients Overall like the title says, this job is not for everyone. If you want to work in an office the under appreciates the work you do and is very fast pace then this would be perfect.

Pros

Free lunches are provided (prepared in-office — still nice, though not catered as some reviews have suggested). 4-day work week is a definite perk. Supportive coworkers made the day-to-day more enjoyable.

Cons

Management often set unrealistic expectations with little support. High-stress environment with very limited breaks — typically only about 15 minutes for lunch. Employees were encouraged to come in even when sick. Promised raises often did not materialize. Workload distribution was uneven, leaving some employees with significantly more responsibility. Feedback and recognition were inconsistent; formal reviews happened infrequently, sometimes only once every three years. Although Afdent offers a 4-day work week, employees are often expected to work beyond scheduled hours if management deems it necessary, sometimes on very short notice. Official end time is 5:30 PM, but it frequently extends depending on the day, making it difficult to plan commitments outside of work.
