Pros

There are some talented people you can learn from. The work is fast paced, and can get experience using a variety tools in a variety of industries. Work life balance is pretty good once you’ve been there 1-2 years.

Cons

Few women in leadership roles, with no women managers on the developer side of the business. Very few women developers at all. Since 2020, there have been layoffs at least one a year. Business is very slow to come in, and they acquired a nearshore company which has been the focus. I expect continued domestic layoffs to be ongoing. The message is for the developers to try and be up-selling their current projects, since the sales team is having trouble bringing in new work. During a layoff last year, they let go the only two women in the company who had taken maternity leave. Work can be monotonous if on the same type of projects. Estimates and scope are always tight and expect the developer to make up the time or always do things faster.

Adage Technologies Response

Thank you for your feedback. We take concerns like these seriously and would like to clarify a few points: On inclusion and gender equity: We’re proud to share that nearly 30% of our Leadership Team is made up of women (2 out of 7), and we’re actively working to grow representation across all areas, including technical roles. In addition to our Leadership Team, we also have women in key leadership roles in HR and Development, reflecting our commitment to inclusive leadership across departments. We recently celebrated Women’s Week to highlight the impact and contributions of the women at Adage, and we remain dedicated to building an inclusive culture. On layoffs and parental leave: It is not accurate to say there have been layoffs every year. While we've had to make difficult decisions in response to broader economic challenges, they have not occurred annually, and we always approach such decisions with care, transparency, and respect for those affected. Additionally, the claim that layoffs were tied to maternity leave is categorically false—Adage fully supports parental leave and is committed to treating all employees equitably. On business focus: Our nearshore growth is part of a global strategy, not a shift away from domestic teams. We continue to invest in our people and deliver meaningful work across regions. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to listen, learn, and improve.

Pros

Pushes you with tight estimates in a way that could be a useful thing to experience. Good people. Many very skilled developers working there, and many good managers.

Cons

Tight estimates cause already overworked developers to feel inadequate. Scrum style of management results in long meetings without much benefit. Undue pressure on developers to reach 85% billable rate. Focus on nearshore acquisition over employees. Creates the feeling that you could be laid off at any moment. Lack of mentorship. Mentors for new hires are given very little time or training, and are often new hires themseleves. Laid off very disrespectfully, with a group of others, given no notice or warning, and laid off right as a large acquisition was made of nearshore employees (during a time of very little work from clients). CEO would rather take first class flights to schmooze with other rich people and acquire their companies, than focus on the quality of the lives of the current staff.
