There are some really great people who work for accuweather. They seem to be improving their digital content.
Cons
Many issues that senior leadership is aware of are ignored outright due to the closeness of relationships. Inappropriate and disruptive relationships are ignored, although they are openly discussed. speaking up is useless. Toxic work environment is the biggest takeaway. Employees fear retaliation for speaking up on important issues, because they feel their job is at risk. The amount of disharmony and bullying that goes on leaves you wondering if leadership is either blind, or just does not care. Really good people leave after a year or even less because the company and experience looks great on a resume, and the problems within make any other opportunity seem attractive. Unfortunately, they won’t pay more to keep great people yet constantly drill into everyone’s heads that the organization is growing rapidly. The pay scales make no rational sense, and there are large differences in pay for those who do the exact same job. The company is downsizing, job security is up in the air. A lot of great employees have been pushed out who put a considerable amount of time in. The nature of the Company’s ownership is problematic. The owners refuse the change a thing, which makes the culture extremely stiff (you would think a media company would be more progressive... its not).
