Pros

I joined about four months ago and have had a positive experience so far. From what I understand, the organization went through several structural and rehiring changes over the past year, which seem to have contributed to a healthier and more productive work environment. Culture 1. One thing I really appreciate is that projects tend to operate more like a consulting or startup environment, where there’s real opportunity to take ownership, lead initiatives, and make an impact. Decisions are made quickly, and there isn’t a rigid hierarchy interfering with getting quality work done. 2. Results tend to be recognized rather than triggering ego conflicts, which is refreshing. 3. The culture feels somewhat European in style (i.e., fairly flat organizationally, with accessible leadership). The CEO and Chief of Staff are often present at HQ and will stop for a minute or two to chat. It genuinely seems like the CEO knows many employees by name. 4. The company also hosted a global “Fun Day” where employees from around the world were flown in, with flights and hotels covered. The C-suite participated in the same lighthearted team-building games as everyone else, which was a nice way to get to know them better. There was also a formal employee appreciation event in the evening with excellent food, atmosphere and live music. Work Style 1. Colleagues are generally ambitious, smart, and well-qualified, but the culture seems to emphasize humility and collaboration rather than internal competition. 2. Another big positive for me has been work-life balance. I left my previous organization due to consistent 60–70+ hour weeks and weekend work. While I’ve had a number of projects here, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had to stay late (though this may vary depending on role or working style). Growth Opportunities It’s still a bit early for me to fully evaluate career progression, but it appears that employees are recognized and promoted regularly. 1. The bonus structure is tied to company performance, and there was a bonus this year for eligible tenured employees. 2. The company also has a recognition points system that can be converted into gift cards and prizes. Additionally, there is an end-of-year recognition ceremony that includes custom-made trophies and compensation awards for top performers.

Cons

I imagine it would be more challenging for someone earlier in their career. There isn’t a formal training program beyond onboarding and getting to know colleagues and the company’s ways of working. At times, requests can also be ambiguous and require prior context and industry knowledge to execute effectively. This can be a great place to work if you're self-driven and have prior experience at another tech, biotech, or consulting company. Information can feel somewhat siloed, with limited transparency...though this is fairly typical in AI, tech, and biopharma companies. The equity offering is strong, but the 401(k) benefits are relatively underwhelming. Not necessarily a negative, but potentially a downside for some people: there are a lot of dogs at headquarters. There are plenty of complimentary drinks and snacks at HQ, but some of the sandwiches and premade food options were a bit subpar for me (personally).

Pros

The company is at the forefront of integrating AI with biologics discovery, and it’s exciting to contribute to work that has real potential to impact patients’ lives. One of the biggest strengths of Absci is its collaborative and mission-driven culture. Teams are highly cross-functional, and there’s a strong emphasis on sharing ideas and learning from one another. Even as a Research Associate, I’ve felt that my contributions are valued and that I have opportunities to grow scientifically and professionally. Leadership is transparent about company goals and progress, and there’s a genuine focus on innovation and continuous improvement. The pace can be fast, but that also creates opportunities to take ownership of projects and develop new skills quickly. Overall, Absci is a great place for anyone passionate about cutting-edge science, teamwork, and making a meaningful impact in biotech. Fast-paced environment can require balancing multiple priorities Evolving processes typical of a growing company If you want, I can tailor this to sound more casual, more senior, or more “authentic Glassdoor tone” (e.g., slightly less polished / more candid).

Pros

I've been with Absci for almost 2 years, and it genuinely stands out as one of the best jobs of my career. The culture here is unlike anything I've experienced — people are collaborative, smart, and actually care about each other's success. Leadership is transparent and the mission feels real, not just a tagline on a wall. The work itself is fascinating. Being on the operations side of a company doing cutting-edge AI-driven drug design means every day there's something new to wrap your head around. It keeps you sharp and motivated. Compensation and benefits are competitive and the company clearly values its employees. You feel like you're being taken care of. If you want to do meaningful work alongside great people at a company that's genuinely trying to change how drugs are discovered and developed, Absci is a fantastic place to build your career.

Cons

Like any growing company, things move fast and priorities can shift. The work can be all consuming and you need to be comfortable with some ambiguity — but honestly, that's part of what makes it exciting.
