We are sorry that you had a negative working experience with AbroadWorks. We strive to support every AbroadWorker’s growth and we’re disappointed that your experience is anything but. That said, we wanted to clarify some things: On rate and pay schedule - We share our benefits from the interview stage, which include paid leave, an HMO (for Philippine and Mexican employees), and a guaranteed salary raise per year. All AbroadWorkers are also entitled to a year-end bonus based on performance and tenure. Considering our employees are independent contractors, our bonuses are very competitive by industry standards. The employee engagement team also shares, during every new employee onboarding, the one-paycheck delayed payout schedule to ensure payroll is computed accurately, especially since some employees are paid on an hourly basis. The payout schedule for the whole year is also shared during the onboarding. This is also stated in the contractor agreement, which employees sign prior to the onboarding process. On work schedule - We try our best to ensure that all work schedule changes are communicated ahead of time so employees can adjust accordingly. We apologize if there are any delays, but we will never lie to you about details that will affect your productivity and partnership with the client. On career advancement - We do our best to advocate for our AbroadWorkers during regular meetings with the clients. We believe everyone has an opportunity to grow, but at the same time, career advancement is solely based on performance and client feedback. On HR responsiveness - We’re continuously improving our processes, and we apologize for the delays and gaps in communication. We have communicated this to the team as well, but if you have any specific feedback, we are more than happy to know more about your thoughts. Please send us an email here: engagement@abroadworks.com

Pros

The AbroadWorks team is really supportive. The check in regularly to see how employees are doing. It's obvious to me that they are constantly working to improve as far as team building events, benefits etc.

Cons

Your experience here will depend on the client you're paired with so there are things that are out of AW's control but they do seem to address any issues promptly and are attentive to feedback from employees.

Pros

Nothing i can think of.

Cons

I got hired with this company 3 weeks ago as an Internal HR, they will tell you things such as their company really has a good working environment, they don't micromanage, etc. but the reality is completely different into what they are saying. Here's my experience: They use Hubstaff - They use time tracker which screenshot all your daily activities and they would want you to work straight and fixed with only 30 minutes of break time(What a mess) Shared Calendar - Despite the screenshots taken by hubstaff, it will not be enough for them. They will also ask you to share your calendar and checking your daily activities(Really this is how you measure performance and not with inputs?) They will entice you with a High Salary in the Job Posting but will never offer you the same amount telling you that it's not within their budget. Micro Managers - No trust with their employees, they will expect you to be a "Plug and Play", so much for high standards but cannot pay well. If unfortunate times happened such as health problem and you immediately resigned, the company will not be liable to pay you unless you turn over for 20 days even you don't have anything to turn over. Salary is 1 month delayed(FISHY)

We’re sorry that you did not have a great experience during your short time with us. We do appreciate you sharing a detailed feedback and we’d like to address these: On Hubstaff - Our use of Hubstaff is primarily for time tracking and invoicing as well as to ensure accountability. We make this clear during the new employee onboarding although we do understand that screenshots can feel restrictive. Rest assured that we’re actively working on how to improve tracking efficiency and productivity, especially considering that we have different work paces and some roles don’t depend on keystrokes or clicks for productivity. On Shared Calendar - We ask you to share calendars to streamline scheduling, improve coordination, and keep projects on track. By making availability, deadlines, and important events visible, they can avoid double-booking, reduce back-and-forth emails, and ensure everyone works around each other’s commitments. Ultimately, it’s about saving time, increasing efficiency, and ensuring alignment across the organization. On Salary - The employee engagement team has shared with every new employee onboarding about the one paycheck delayed payout schedule to compute payroll accurately, especially since some employees are paid on an hourly basis. This is also stated in the contractor agreement, signed by employees prior to the onboarding process. On Micromanagement - Our goal is to set up new hires for success and take ownership of their roles while still having the proper guidance by a tenured team member, and it’s unfortunate that you felt a “plug and play” expectation within the team and we will review our training protocol to improve. On Turnover - In some cases, company-related files are required to be surrendered upon contract termination. There is no other reason for holding the final pay of any ex-employee. As you have mentioned very specific feedback in your role as an HR Specialist, we would like to extend an invitation to contact our Employee Engagement team at engagement@abroadworks.com so we can discuss your experience in detail, so we can also take a more direct approach to improve our internal processes and policies. Again, we are very sorry about your experience as an AbroadWorker, and we wish you better working experiences in the future.
