Pros
Pay is good compared to what I had been making. Benefits, except for Dental, are good. But ... who has really GOOD dental? Nobody. Maybe senior management at some companies. Probably looks good on a resume. Everyone has heard of AT&T. Everyone hates their advertising. Dont' they? But that's a little off topic.
Cons
What I did would be called a Premesis Tech now, although we did not have that job title when I was there. I was a Systems Technician, installing DSL. Driving a big white van. Premises Techs are treated badly, as has been noted by many others. Unreasonable production goals. Inadequate training. Inadequate support. Managers are hired off the street without any relevant experience. I must say though that one of my managers was quite good, despite that. The others? The chicks? Not so much. Dealing with customers was the hardest part for me. If you have good skills in this area and you are handy with tools and like to climb poles and like a fast-paced, stressful environment, and have some basic electronics knowledge, this job could work for you. It's not the kind of place where you could go out for drinks after work though. Long hours and you're just too beat at the end of the day.
