Pros

One of the coolest parts about ASL19 is that every project is highly ethical, supporting human rights (mostly digital human rights, i.e. freedom of expression) around the world. Before the pandemic, everyone was able to work from home when they wanted to, and there was one day per week when almost everyone worked from home. During the pandemic everyone has been working from home. The hours are flexible, and the atmosphere is respectful and not micromanaged. The environment is especially fun when in the office with foosball, daily catered lunches, and lots of good conversations. The other benefits (such as medical) are quite good as well. The people working at ASL19 are all kind, supportive, motivated, and ethical people. My mentors helped me to grow a great deal in my technical skills. In the current remote setting ASL19 is making many efforts for the team to stay connected (such as weekly online games and chats). As a computer developer, it was nice to be encouraged to use the latest tech stack and practices. It is a rather independent work environment, with the opportunity to work on what interests you most.

Cons

The security rules can be a little confusing at times, since as a human rights company it takes some extra precautions. Just always ask questions when you are confused and it should be fine though, everyone is friendly and happy to explain. In the past there were some issues with sexual harassment, but ASL19 openly focused on fixing those issues, and continues to focus on improving the environment for all of its diverse team.

Pros

ASL19 is a great company to start your career. Finance team is relatively smaller so you get an hands on experience on different areas of finance including FP&A, Budgeting, Modelling and various ad-hoc projects. The leadership team is so supportive and welcoming. They genuinely want to see you succeed and grow, both personally and professionally. The Director of Finance is incredibly experienced, and working under her mentorship was such a great learning experience. The hybrid work setup is perfect for maintaining a good work-life balance, and the office lunches are such a fun and unique part of the culture here. It’s those little things that really make a difference. What I’ve also loved is that you feel like your work matters. The team is open to new ideas, and you get to contribute to projects that actually have an impact. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to start their career.

Cons

Don’t have any criticism, it was a great experience and memorable part of my career.
