Pros

Accepts applicants with zero experience. They will train you when it comes to mapping, protocols, and patient care. They provide a good experience for people that have none.

Cons

The training they do is the hardest your job will ever be at this company, the FTOs are extremely serious and take it way to seriously for what is essentially an interfacility transport company. youre underpaid. You are disposable to the company which is why they have such a high turnover rate. The FTO's tried to say that the high turnover rate was because the people weren't good enough but the truth is that if you cant handle working at AMR you won't handle being an EMT.

Pros

Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

Cons

Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

Pros

AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

Cons

Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
