Pros

The entire team is small, 20 maximum employees. Projects will vary greatly. One day you are working on unit numbers for a residential developer, next day is Ted Cruz's political bus.

Cons

Everything you need to know is what you see upon entering this "office." The facilities are very poor. There is stuff lying everywhere. The roof leaks and tiles have crashed down upon employees during heavy rain storms. The restrooms are disgusting and have zero ventilation. The smells will drift into the kitchen and design offices. Sadly this company is behind the times. You will be required to clock in on a timecard/punch machine with ink and paper. You will need to maintain the paper files for clients/projects and there are hundreds. There are no project management tools in place for design, fabrication, supply ordering etc... Former employees have tried to inject a sense of structure and organization, only too fail. Turn over is high. You will have to readjust every few months to new fabricators, installers, office members, etc. The computers struggle to keep up with your design needs. If you have zero experience in this industry, do not expect any guidance. The owner expects you to learn it on your own and will say, "That's what I pay for, your brain." Due dates are not firm and feel left to the owners decision of what is important vs actual client dates and deadlines. It is a draconian male run business. Females will be objectified. You will never be praised for work, but only lectured on how much money one could have saved the business. Even when there was none. The hours are atrocious. Expect to arrive no later than 7:45am and possibly leave at 6:00pm. You will receive text messages from the owner asking about projects throughout the day and night. Though while he is in the office, his attention is turned to other things outside of 3DI's business scope. The best to describe this place is - You are going to work your life away in a toxic environment for the owner to live a false fabulous life, while not receiving anything in return but a paycheck and belittlement.

Pros

Other designers and colleagues were great and made the place tolerable.

Cons

While I worked here I hated every minute of it. There was no structure or organization skills from the owner or his bipolar assistant. Seemed like whatever we did was wrong, and weren't given any clear direction from the start. You have to write down every little thing and refer to it weeks later or search though thousands of irrelevant emails. You'll be constantly watched like a hawk on cameras. Don't expect to design anything creative as all you'll be needed for is to draw the owners crazy ideas. There is never a easy simple job, the owner likes to up the challenge rating on everything to make it unique thus causing everyone to stress out. Most designers are on salary pay, but expected to show up early and stay late hours, layout the projects, project manage all jobs, attend countless meetings, and answer the phones since theres no receptionist. This shop has the potential of creating cool things with their machines and equipement but the quality of work that comes out of it is just mediocre. Majority of jobs are done last minute or in a rush which usually ends up with mistakes. But yet clients still go back and use them time again. Go figure? The turnaround of employed designers here is like every 3 months. Nobody wants to stay and put up with all the negativity. Others just beware. There aren't any additional benefits, only certain colleagues are invited to special or after hour events, theres no healthcare, vision/dental, not even direct deposit.

Pros

Some very nice fellow workers

Cons

The job responsibilities spelled out in the job listing and by the owner during the interview did not come close to what the owner demanded after hiring. The job advertisement was for a graphic designer. There were two employed when I was interviewed and, while we were standing directly behind them, the owner told me they were the designers he needed to replace. They had not resigned. In the 4 months between that interview and my actual hiring, there were four other people in those chairs. In the 28 months I worked there, a total of 12 other designers were hired, some of whom only worked for a week before leaving. No promotions. No vacation in 28 months. Only raise came after 26 months. Constant threats of losing job. Female employes were REALLY treated poorly.
