Pros
When working as student help in UCC, your work schedule is structured around your class schedule and is therefore flexible. The student is generally offered 12 hours of work per week and is paid fairly. The positions I worked included general library assistance (restocking shelves, assisting visitors, working in returns), RFID tagging, and Study Room Invigilation. I preferred the Invigilation position as it provided time to study (one must sit at a desk, sign people into the library, direct them to the bathroom, close and lock up the library/study room) and it paid slightly higher than the other positions.
Cons
Honestly, there were no cons. Management were top tier, the work was straightforward and well compensated, and hours were flexible.
