Bullying/intimidation used to make sure that appearances are kept up. They want to look like an "Excellent" school. No sincere "open door policy" with management. Incredibly unpleasant work environment masquerading as the complete opposite. Some of the employees are bullies and the rest are afraid to speak up for fear that they will be punished/intimidated in some way. They throw a lot of parties and say a lot of things to cover up the intimidating atmosphere which you won't understand until you've already taken a contract.

If you are new to the area, this district was really great years ago. However, now it pays the least, they think you should be on call 24/7, and they’re spiteful beyond belief. Do yourself a favor, and cross this place off your list. Other districts provide training during contract hours. DD2 expects you to train yourself at home in whatever little free time you can carve out. Management just does whatever the DO says, despite the fact that they know the expectations are out of line. Discipline for students is nonexistent and everything is the fault of staff. If a student refuses to do work, destroys your classroom or is failing, it is YOUR responsibility to fix it all. Honestly, teaching is hard enough, you don’t need everyone outside your classroom working against you. There are so many other options, just stay away from this toxic place.
