Pros

Relaxed work environment unless your boss has taken credit for your work and something went wrong, then it’s a toxic work environment until you make your boss look good again… Hours are set in stone and the workflow is predictable which makes planning around work easy. As long as the work is good and there are no issues you are not bothered by anyone. No clock watching.

Cons

One of the biggest negatives working here is that you can easily be more skilled, qualified, suited for your bosses position than they are. This means you end up doing their job and yours because they can’t do it themselves properly and force it upon you under the “other duties as assigned” caveat in the job descriptions. Zero opportunities for upward advancement, even if you have Graduate degrees. Politics here are insane. The only way to get ahead/move up is entirely based on who you are “friends” with. Your skill set, education, certifications, licensure, etc… mean absolutely nothing. HUGE disconnect between upper management and staff. Almost no communication, unless something is wrong and then you will have more communication than you care for and it won’t be in a respectful or professional manner. Too many “cliques,” and if you aren’t a part of the clique then you will not have a good work experience.

Pros

No one cares about what you do

Cons

Seven colleges have merged into One college has really ruined all the teamworks and sense of motivation. This would hurt the student success if they do not care about the students. Many employees are so used to what they do and they announce that these positions are no longer belonged to this new structure. Then throwing out a bunch of new positions and telling current employees to apply for another positions, if not they will become jobless. The pandemic is not over yet, many people still have to provide support to their family, people will be crazy applying for the new positions without considering whether their skills or experience are suitable or not. This is also injustice on the way they try to replace the new positions. Since everyone first got their jobs here have to officially go through the interviews, now they make them have to look for another position and get interviewed again. How are they ensure that these new hires would do a quality job?
