Don't believe the positive reviews. It's a trap.

Pros

Despite the dumpster fire that Dakno is, there are still a few perks to working here. My coworkers were almost always kind and eager to help or talk through problems. The company as a whole switched to permanent WFH at the start of the pandemic. Dakno also has well-integrated tech. I never had to print anything when I worked there, and everything is done in project management software or Google Suite. I also had the opportunity to learn a lot of different skills because we were so understaffed.

Cons

Where do I start? If you're looking to get into the marketing industry, Dakno might seem okay at first. I promise you, this kind of job at this pay level is not worth your sanity. Agency life can be hard, but don't fall for the trap. Most positive reviews were written by people who have only worked here for a short time and haven't experienced how bad things can get. To put it simply... Little to no training (You're thrown in on day one! Good luck!) Lack of support from management No opportunities for growth Constant restructuring Compensation well below industry standard Lackluster benefits (Two weeks PTO, barely rolls over, health benefits aren't great.) Cliquey culture (Though this has gotten better after certain employees left. There was a mass exodus in 2021.) Poor hiring practices (Most new hires are young graduates without much experience or contractors so they can underpay them.) Expectation to work overtime because they're chronically understaffed Not much support from my direct manager...because she was stretched too thin! The CEO quite literally brags about his expensive new Tesla in meetings while not paying his employees a decent wage. He also loves to come up with random ideas, make the entire team drop what they're doing to work on them, and then proceeds to change everything about the project or forget about it entirely. He is one of the biggest factors holding Dakno back from really growing. I had to fight for salary increases despite my praised performance, and I was still being paid well-below industry average for my position. And the cherry on top...the company is so lean that I couldn't get a promotion even if I tried. There was nobody else to take on my job, and they refused to ever hire anyone new where they needed it.

Not a Great Company

Pros

Not really sure what the pros are

Cons

They pay like a salary employee but you have to log your time like an hourly employee and they want every minute accounted for. It’s a salary job with none of the benefits of a salaried position. Sometimes with a salary job you have to work overtime but then there are other times were you may not have to work a full day, not at Dakno. They give you plenty of work so you pretty much always have to work over time but there is a never a time you get a day with a little less work. The pay is very low. You only get off 10 days a year, that is your vacation time and sick time, while the owner is constantly off.

Top 10 Reasons Dakno Marketing is a Horrible Company to Work for

Pros

Casual dress code, relatively flexible hours, free snacks, young coworkers.

Cons

1. The CEO is selfish and unreliable. He only cares about two things: money and himself. 2. The Clients are miserable to work with. 3. The Pay is insufficient and below industry average. 4. The Benefits are lacking; no health insurance. 5. The Workload is unmanageable and the company is constantly under-staffed - See #9. 6. The Stress is overwhelming. 7. The Leadership is non-existent, everyone has to fight for attention from the CEO. 8. The Training is sink or swim. There’s no formalized training and coworkers are overworked so you have to learn on your own. 9. The Turnover is frequent due to #1-8. Most people only make it about a year. 10. The Room for Advancement - Refer to #7.

Pros

Good culture. Great people to work with. Lots of opportunity to pick up good marketing knowledge from peers and CEO.

Cons

Overworked. Underpaid. No benefits. Little to no training. Will be thrown into work asap and when you slip up you will be thrown under the bus at first opportunity. Agents are their own kind of people. Little to no appreciation. Most all they do is yell and complain til they get their way. CEO is smart but is in control of everything. Thus getting answers from him, help, or any kind of assistance is near impossible.

Nothing has changed

Pros

The pros of working at Dakno is that it makes you appreciate the small things in life. It will show you the difference between a good agency and a bad one. Dakno will teach you that it is ok to say no and to leave a bad job. Dakno will teach you the difference between good management and bad management. You may not realize it until you leave. Once you leave Dakno you will no longer let management take advantage of you, you will no longer be over worked and under paid, you will be able to breath because you will be onto better things.

Cons

Career Opportunities There are none. You will be moved onto other projects but 70% of those times either the projects change or they tell you to stop them mid work because they need you to work on other projects due to being short staffed. If you do plan on working for Dakno as a Marketing Account/Project Manger, make sure to take classes in html, css, dev support, and design because you will be required to do them all for your project. Dakno is organized like this: Owner > Sales/HR (same person) > Team Lead > You and that is it. Compensations & Benefits They do charge their clients less so they pay their employees less. We heard from the owner many times "we cant charge our clients more because the work doesn't deserve it" not knowing that you pay for what you get. If they would pay their employees more, they would work harder, be more willing to take on more work, and be more excited to work. Image being told to take on additional client projects, multiple internal projects, work more than 40 hrs a week, at no to minimal pay increase. If they would offer more then they would be able to hire more. Dakno needs to double their employees at the minimum. Culture & Values There is no culture and no values. Dakno is you work and thats it. They may try to do some virtual events and send you a quarterly gift box but other than that there is no culture there. PS: those gift boxes will give you too many pens, paper, and t-shirts you will never wear. If I did have to give them one value it would be "do whatever you can to make a profit" meaning that they will charge and BS their clients just so that they can bill more. Diversity & Inclusion Once again there is none. The owner has his pride and joy of a Telsa and will rub it in your face that he has one. They don't try to make you feel like a team, emails are ignored, chat messages are ignored, help is ignored. You can try multiple times to set up a meeting with the owner and he will either not show up or say no. Yes, you do have to meet with the owner on items because you won't have a manager to go to, the manager is called a "team lead" and they are too overworked to help or they were not properly trained so they tell you to meet with the owner instead. There is also no diversity, it's all young, white women. The only males are the ones in management (keep in mind management is only two positions) so if you want to one day be in management then you will need to complete with them and I have never seen it happen after years of working there. They may say we have female team leads, but the team leads at Dakno don't act as team leads, they were given that title because they do internal projects but other than that they are not team leads. Senior Management You only have one senior management and that is the owner. He doesn't listen to your ideas, he doesn't take any outside advice, he doesn't care outside of making a profit. He needs to step back and be an owner instead of trying to have his foot in every project, every idea, every aspects of the business. Most owners, management will report back to them on items; however, since there really isn't management you can't do that. Work / Life Balance They say they care but they do not. It is expected of you to work over 40 hours a week and they will get mad at you if an item isn't addressed at 7pm when they send it to you. Cons for Clients They do not focus on SEO, they don't even do any keyword research. They will assign work just so that they can bill you. They will take work they do for other clients and copy it over but change the colors. They will charge you simply for an account coordinator or project manager to organize the emails you have sent them. When you get billed for 4 hours of admin work, it was not admin work done on your project.
