Great clients, unhealthy culture

Pros

Great clients, great people. You will learn really valuable skills for your future PR career (how to work independently, approach challenging situations, abide to tight deadlines). Perfect place to learn how not to behave as a leader.

Cons

Unhealthy environment where public shaming is the norm due to the unpredictable temper of the CEO. Common to see people in tears.

The worst place I have ever worked

Pros

None - and I feel very strongly about warning other young professionals away from this toxic environment

Cons

This was the worst experience of my professional career, I cannot believe that they are still allowed to operate. Farzana Baduel is a bully and a vicious, ruthless person with no qualms about behaving extremely nastily to her employees. During my time there, the office was a hostile environment - everyone was terrified she might lose her temper and they would end up feeling her rath. Ignore their responses about zero complaints to HR, as when I was employed at Curzon PR there wasn't a HR department.

Pros

Access to and experience of working with clients from emerging markets can provide an interesting experience occasionally. The experience of working for such a poor employer can build up one's resilience for difficult challenges later in ones career.

Cons

The management is both incompetent and completely toxic. Lack of real strategy and direction from what little senior leadership was at the company meant the organisation was generally directionless and seemed focused on rumbling along on a day to day basis. Lack of individuals with considerable experience in the PR industry meant it was a poor learning experience. Salary was incredibly low and nowhere near enough remuneration for working in such a difficult (in terms of demands, the work was not intellectually challenging) and toxic environment.
