If Convex was a house from Game of Thrones, they would be HOUSE LANNISTER

Pros

Convex truly has some of the best leadership I have ever experienced – they truly nailed their senior to mid-level leadership with some outstanding, lovely people. Working there is a pleasure; a cool office, lots of glitzy perks, and a strong culture. The latter however can be at best overbearing, and at worst, borderline arrogant. If you’ve had a good run in the insurance market (in this case, chummy at Catlin) then this is the ultimate retirement home for you. Good luck to anyone else, though.

Cons

Feels like the marketing department runs the show at times. I wouldn’t be surprised if they mandated Convex Uniforms – it can get a bit ridiculous. It also tries very hard to be the embodiment of modern corporate culture. Very slow progression for those starting out. Not impossible, but very unlikely. A high degree of legacy-based issues for such a new company. Not such a great reputation within the market; The Lannisters always cut their rates.

Shambles of a company

Pros

- There are some very clever individuals who work at Convex - Some nice people - Annual summer party is quite fun

Cons

Where do I start? This has got to be the worst company I have worked for, and they are very dishonest about how they do things. They do not stick to their own values at all. They promote the job as hybrid working, but then publicly discriminate on those who do not come into the office 5 days a week. I witnessed bullying in multiple teams and, although HR are aware of these individuals, they facilitate with them to get away with it and brush it under the carpet. There are also lots of people who do not understand the insurance industry that Convex operates in and just seem to ‘wing’ it. This is the only organisation I have come across where bad behaviour is actively encouraged, celebrated and rewarded. They say to potential employees that it’s a small knit family, however this is just a ruse to get you to accept before you really see what they are like. They also have zero diversity amongst their leadership team.

Pros

Nice offices, good benefits although holiday difficult as too busy.

Cons

- No monitors on desks is an absolutely ridiculous policy hampers productivity. - Leadership cult like and aloof traveling to far flung luxury locations rather than focusing on team. Use of private jets does not align with ESG goals. - Marketing spin is just spin. Flashy offices also dont matter - it’s the people in them that matter m. - leadership team came from failed XL employees who hanker for the Catlin good old days but the world has (thankfully) moved on. Also some likely nepotistic old boys club hires at the most senior of levels.
