Awful place to work

Pros

Fulham is a nice location easy to get to The only other pro I can think of was seeing it in my rear view mirror when I left the place

Cons

Filled with useless management across most departments no idea how to manage staff as people not expendable assets. Staff only out for themselves treat it more like a playground than a workplace. Outdated IT equipment and useless IT staff supporting it makes it almost impossible to complete the most basic tasks. And an archaic corrupt HR department

Horrendous place to work

Pros

It looks good on the CV. Most people are equally as horrified by the place so it's good to bond over.

Cons

Truly awful place to work. The company is mostly run by narcissists and self-serving nutjobs. Since having a large restructure, the top tier management was careful in selecting new staff who are just as horrible to work with as the previous bunch, somehow creating an even more toxic atmosphere. I've never known a place where legitimately most people you speak to are actively looking/trying to leave. Due to the status of the club, they will forever attract bright young talent that wish to work hard, but inevitably get ground down after months until they decide to leave. Lots of bullying, micromanaging and people very, very unskilled at their jobs. Typically lots of people with friends in high places so some rules apply to some people, while not to others. HR department is beyond a joke - having had the same concerns voiced to them by multiple people, they'll actively ignore feedback and are happy to let the toxicity run rife. I truly wouldn't recommend working there even for the CV benefit, as you'll look back incredibly negatively on the club in the future.

If you’re not a player, you’re not a priority.

Pros

You can say you work for Chelsea FC. Easy access to tickets. Above average job security.

Cons

No salary review in 4 years -2020/21 company wide decision due to COVID and nothing to do with personal successes. Nothing in 2022 yet either which is why I’ve left. CEO and the board have failed to make decisions about flexible working and hybrid working always having some sort of excuse. If you’re not a player, you’re not a priority. No investment in non match staff facilities. Don’t even have a seating area to eat home cooked food unless it’s at your desk. Some staff don’t have private toilets or even a kitchen to wash up. No staff showers if you want to ride a bicycle to work (think you can use the health club but you have to be out by 8.30AM). Some staff areas don’t have working air handling. Communication from CEO and board to staff members is appalling with staff often finding out critical business information from the press. Very little room for progression in most teams. Basically if you’re not a mens or womens professional player. Don’t expect any personal development or investment. Part of an organisation that wins a massive international sports tournament. Get a 50p plastic pin as a thank you. Maybe Guy Lawrence was the issue and things will improve now he’s leaving. I hope so as the excellent staff who are still there deserve better.
