Pros

Located in beautiful downtown San Diego! Centrally located, close to all!

Cons

You have to have really thick skin to work here. VP talks to you as if you are an idiot and if you don't see things his way, then it is YOU that is wrong. Never open to someone else's opinion. Constantly belittled in front of all of your peers and talked down to! If you like working for a Narcissist then this is the place for you. What a shame because the rest of the management was great but they were not my direct POC. The pay is so-so, I would NOT recommend working here! By the way when I did work there I was coerced into leaving a positive review on Glass Door and did so out of fear of retaliation.

Thank you for your honest feedback. I’m sorry to hear you didn’t have a great experience while at Chatmeter. Chatmeter has a fast-paced work environment and we are continuing to grow quickly, with this comes some growing pains. However, we strive to build a fun, challenging, and positive working environment. I’m sorry if you did not experience this and apologize if you were treated disrespectfully while working here. We did recently hire additional upper management team members to help everyone succeed in their roles here. We also made a lot of positive changes to our sales management team. I believe these positive changes helped solve a lot of the issues you were facing. We also conduct regular management trainings that focus on direct report and peer feedback to further improve the skill set of the management team. We do ask our employees to leave us their honest feedback on Glassdoor to help with hiring and bringing on more talented team members. However, there is never pressure to leave us your feedback. This is simply a request to help get the word out about the great company we have built. Again, thank you for your honest feedback and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Pros

Vast majority of the people who work here are incredibly smart, hard-working, and even better: fun to be around. The product/software is quite impressive and constantly being improved upon by an expansive and talented team of developers. There are lots of team lunches, happy hours, and outings.

Cons

This is a start-up, so be prepared for all of the challenges that that can come with. Beyond that, if you are applying on the sales side: be prepared to have a strong back-bone and stick up for yourself when needed. There are some strong personalities in leadership that I saw often berate coworkers in front of others to the point of tears. Be sure to review your job offer, employment agreement and compensation plan very closely before signing, as I was misled on mine (although I do believe they've tried to improve this process). And if you are female, be aware that this is a predominantly male office and you should be very prepared for unwanted advances (although I do believe they have finally started a sexual harassment training program).

Thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry to hear about some of the negative experiences you had at Chatmeter. We recently made a lot of changes in sales management which has helped improve a lot of those issues you faced. Typically at software companies, you tend to see mostly males, but here at Chatmeter we value hiring diverse employees. Chatmeter is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We did implement Sexual Harassment training for all employees and we take these issues very seriously. Our HR Director is keenly aware to keep their ears to the ground and report even a hint of an issue to me. We value every single one of our employees and always want to provide a safe and healthy work environment for everyone. Over the past year, we have made a lot of changes to our management and have hired an excellent leadership team.

Pros

The technology is exciting and the dev team is extremely impressive. The new Director of Operations is new, and is making effective structural and cultural changes slowly but surely. The opportunity for career growth is there because the company is so small.

Cons

There is a complete lack of support for the sales team...from training, to resources (although as I left, there were a few resources beginning to be rolled out). There is almost no structure, and a lack of fundamental sales knowledge from the top down. Almost 100% of the meetings I was in were run extremely poorly, with no agendas set and more often than not, were volatile and disrespectful. Unless you are very comfortable with an extremely aggressive and very confrontational sale (as a BDR or an Account Executive), I would advise you to do some extra due diligence, and make sure you vet the company very thoroughly before taking a position here. The opportunity to make this a fun and extremely consultative sale is there, but it requires training so you have confidence in the product, and support from the leadership.

We are always striving to improve and like any fast-paced startup, there can be some growing pains. We have recently made a lot of positive changes to sales management since you left.
