Pros

You would sometimes have interesting interviews.

Cons

This publication claims it’s not a “pay for play” but everything about their business model screams it. As for the position, you are basically a glorified cold caller expected to make around 80 calls a day. Since the only way they make money is through advertising you are required to schedule as many meetings as you can so that the executive directors can pitch the interviewees after each interview. The whole thing is quite cringe worthy. If things didn’t get worse, they expect you to write your articles either before or after work hours so that you can be on the phones in between interviews which you never have time to properly prepare for. So as a result, the same mediocre questions are asked basically every year but their money hungry CEO doesn’t care because their main priority is to sell advertising in their annual book that is out dated by the time it is published. Long story short, don’t waste your time!

Pros

The company allows employees to work remotely and it sounds like there are pretty legit opportunities for sales people to make solid money.

Cons

That this company has “analytics” in its name is pretty hilarious. All they do is compile stats from the chamber of commerce. The whole thing is essentially a pay for play scheme; they interview business leaders then find an excuse to return (to “edit” their interview) and then ask for advertising money. But the worst part is the people who run the business. They are perfect blend of incompetence and dishonesty. I’m embarrassed that I ever worked there.

Pros

Capital Analytics knows how to hire talent—the people I had the privilege of working with for the short time I was there were some of the most dedicated and kind I’ve encountered. Unfortunately, several left the company before I had the chance to get to know them.

Cons

The company does not seem to put employees first. Image and sales are important, but so is editorial quality—something that often took a backseat to selling ads. Many of my co workers complained about micromanagement from leadership, to the point where there seemed to be a lack of trust from leadership—despite this being a small company with dedicated employees. This quickly became apparent to me as well and is one of the many reasons I decided to leave.
