Pros

-You will meet awesome people. -Food is free when you make it into a management position. -If properly staffed, work could be fun and rewarding.

Cons

Challenges. Wow, where do I begin? -Employees are undervalued and overworked. (Especially if you are in a management position). -No flexibility whatsoever. -VERY stressful. -Corporate has unrealistic-and ridiculous-goals for labor and sales percentages. -Low pay rate. -No time for a LIFE. I am either at work, or running errands for work, or in meetings for work, or sleeping for work. -Never leave on scheduled time. Always am required to stay 2-3 more than scheduled.

Negatives Outweigh Positives

Pros

Opportunities for advancement. Trainings available, especially if higher performing. Opportunity to work with fresh, from scratch food. General Manager and higher in field management have the opportunity to attend a paid for vacation in Hawaii once a year. Benefit packages are robust

Cons

Ultimately, what lead me to leave this company was middle management, "restaurant coaches." The lack of professionalism I saw displayed at this level was egregious, and it carried down to restaurant levels because of example. Lack of transparency and directness, gossiping, favoritism. Every solution felt like just another bandaid. Promises were consistently broken. Since leaving the company, I feel like a whole new person. My attitude towards work is completely different now that I'm with a company that's positive and professional, and allows me to balance work goals with personal goals.

The worst job I ever had

Pros

I worked at the Support Center (Corporate Office). The company boasts their growth, and on a quality product. You get a meal card with an allowance each month, and catering every Monday. After about 3 months, you stop enjoying Cafe Rio.. I have found that a truly successful brand will also focus on it's people. Cafe Rio say's they do, they don't. I read someones review about HR being "mean girls" and I couldn't help but smile because I feel it might be true. I often heard them gossiping about team members. The only thing I truly enjoyed about the job were the relationships I built, and continue to maintain with their field operations teams.

Cons

As the title reads, this was the worst job I have ever had. It wasn't until 8 months after I was employed with them, that I had my first 1:1 meeting with my manager. The feedback from that meeting was that I was not hitting my goals. The reality was, I was unaware of those goals until that meeting, and they goals that had been set for me were unattainable. From that point on, almost every night after work I wanted to cry and I felt like a failure. It wasn't until now, almost a year since I left, that I realized how awful it truly was, now that I am in a position I love, where I am supported by my manager.
