Hello! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m glad to know that you found the flexibility, remote setup, and support from colleagues to be positive aspects of your experience. I understand your concerns regarding compensation and the nature of the work. With regard to pay, assignment fees are determined based on factors such as the scope of work, service type, and effort involved, and we aim to keep this aligned with industry benchmarks. That said, I understand that this may not always feel competitive. Regarding the work feeling monotonous, we recognize that certain types of assignments can become repetitive over time. Where possible, we do try to provide opportunities for editors to work on varied or more specialized tasks, based on performance and availability. If you’d be open to it, I’d be happy to understand your experience in more detail. Please feel free to reach out to me at sushmitha.s1@cactusglobal.com. Pros

Flexibility: The flexibility in terms of work hours and the ability to work remotely is undoubtedly a standout feature of this position. It allows for better work-life integration, which can be especially valuable for individuals with other commitments.

Cons

No Career Progression: One of the major downsides of this role is the lack of clear career progression. Low Compensation: Reviewers are often underpaid, which can be demotivating. It seems that the company is more focused on cost-cutting rather than adequately compensating its workforce. Monotonous Tasks: The day-to-day tasks of an Academic Editor can become repetitive and monotonous over time. This can lead to a feeling of stagnation and boredom in the long run.
