Pros

Salary is competitive with the market

Cons

Management, mainly the owner. Owner watches the staff work through a video monitor that streams through his office. You are not allowed to talk when you are working and if you are away from your desk for too long then the owner will come looking for you. The owner is quick to fire people, even if you do a good job. He fired 5 people within 6 months and 3 of them had only been there for about a month.

Pros

You get gift cards for your birthday.

Cons

Poor wage compensation. Company got rid of quarterly bonuses. Does not increase salary to match inflation. Repeatedly dodges annual reviews to avoid giving raises. Short changes raise increases and denies negotiation based on claim that company is broke. Terrible benefits. Too costly and forces you to pay 100% for any dependents. Insurance premiums go up every year. Insurance requires out-of-pocket payments for seemingly everything. Terrible management. Management is never there. Always claims to be working remote but can never reach them when needed. When in the office, management hides behind meetings all day and then leaves right away. Does not take recommendations/suggestions from lower-level staff. Changes from management are short sighted. Terrible office culture. Claims to be a family but will keep records if any mistakes. Constant revolving door. Poor support when it comes to dealing with issues.

CPT Group Response

We are very sorry to read a review from someone who feels they were in a "dead end job" while employed at CPT Group. While we are not certain from this review what position you held, we understand that the job (regardless of position) may not be a good fit for everyone. Many former employees have moved on and advanced their careers due to the valuable and translatable experience they gained while working at CPT Group. Many were also provided with financial assistance for tuition while obtaining the education necessary for their new positions while working at CPT and they all moved on with the company's best wishes for continued growth in their careers. You have identified yourself as a "Former Employee", therefore, we can only assume your employment at CPT Group ended quite some time ago, since your comments are, for the most part, inaccurate. For example, you mention that the company took away quarterly bonuses. The employee bonus program did end in 2019, however; it was replaced the same year with a profit sharing 401(k) program that provides a guaranteed employer contribution each pay period to all employees. This year, the company has added an employer paid life insurance benefit for employees, which is yet another way that the company is continuously offering improved benefits. It is true that the company has not been in a position to contribute towards dependent benefit costs, however; they do pay for 1/2 of the employee's medical insurance premium, regardless of the cost of the premium. Being categorized as a Small Employer for group insurance classification means we are limited in the health plans we can offer and have no control over premium increases from one year to the next, however; we continuously offer a good range of cost-effective plans for employees, and there are other benefits to working for a small company that outweigh this limitation. CPT Group consistently provides opportunities for staff to present recommendations and suggestions through confidential surveys and actively responds to the input received, whether positive, constructive, or negative. We also stand by our open-door policy to allow employees the opportunity to provide feedback at any time. You are correct in stating that employees receive a gift card on their birthday. Employees also receive a gift card in recognition of their work anniversary each year and receive a $100 gift card when they are named as a CPT Star of the Month. These are just a few of the ways the company strives to recognize hard work and commitment from its employees. CPT Group is diligent about providing feedback to its employees through regular review intervals, however; we do not believe that pay increases should be assumed simply because an employee is due for a performance review. The company weighs several factors such as an individual's involvement, tenure, and attitude in addition to job performance when considering a pay increase. I have taken part in several pay negotiation discussions and know for a fact that requests are always considered and often approved. These are examples of the many ways that CPT Group operates in keeping with the company culture, which as you correctly stated, is a culture of family. I fail to see how keeping records on employee performance disputes that. Isn't family defined as a group that forms an emotional connection among its members? Wouldn't a family strive to help the other members grow by acknowledging a mistake with the goal of learning from it? It's unfortunate that you have chosen to provide such a negative image of CPT Group based on your opinion, rather than facts. I hope that job seekers who may be considering a position at CPT Group can see past your short sidedness and take advantage of an opportunity to work for a great company if it is presented to them.
