Pros

The agency actually cares about the individuals. You can meet some really great coworkers that become really good friends. Its a pretty laid back place to work if you don't have major bills to pay for.

Cons

EVERYTHING! RUN FAST! DO NOT APPLY! The pay is horrible, you have to fight for a simple pay raise which you may never get. God forbid you have actual bills/rent/mortgage to pay. Supervisors never really listen to any of your concerns. Its all a bunch of politics, its who you know or are friends with. All the directors are friends so there is no safe space to voice your concerns. HR is a joke, you tell them something in confidence and they tell your supervisor. Omg do not get me started on the lack of communication in this place. People refuse to answer any of your calls or emails but demand your response asap. This place is big on their core values but they follow NONE! There is no transparency, you know nothing that goes on in this place until they feel like telling you. This place is a huge revolving door no one lasts more than 1 year here. The CEO Scott is greedy and possible a thief. He makes so much money while the rest of us struggle to buy a Metro card. How is he affording to put 3 kids through college at the same time??? I will be contacting the Department of Labor and demanding they investigate Block's finances. People have been in this agency for over 5 years with no raise. How sway how is this possible or even legal. This place is heavenly understaffed so you end up doing the job of 2 or 3 people. This is modern day slavery. I thanked the lord the day I left this place. The benefits are just as bad, your medical insurance copays are so high I've been avoiding seeing any doctor. Its a shame because I actually like my job and CERTAIN coworkers but I could not take the disrespect and low pay. Scott should be ashamed of himself.

Pros

The school had a great therapy team which was a pleasure to work and collaborate with.

Cons

Block Institute is an organization that undervalues and underpays their staff. The management does not provide support or training to new staff. Overall it was a negative working experience and I would not recommend anyone to work there.
