Pros

Scholarship opportunities to further advance your career. Tuition Reimbursement. Good retirement plans & professional support through vendors. Excellent Employee Health Programs (EAP). Fun staff events throughout the year, some are family oriented. Strong organizational values. Small town, truly here to take care of our own.

Cons

Access to childcare & housing. More of a community issue and not the sole responsibility of the hospital.

Pros

Health insurance for a single person is decent and most people are very nice. There are lots of good providers. Quality of care is actually pretty good.

Cons

MANAGEMENT. This is the only place I've ever worked for that seems to punish loyalty. They make empty promises and prefer to hire externally. There is no upward mobility. Scheduling is a nightmare. Need child care? They will make you work on the exact days you ask them not to work. Want to get off night shift? It's pretty much impossible. They put people on call left and right and make you use your PTO to cover it. They also love to make you sign contracts so that you're stuck there for a number of years and can't leave without paying an exorbitant amount of money. Budget cuts to staffing and resources have become commonplace but management continues to make tons of money. There is rampant favoritism and waste in upper management, policies are essentially non-existent, and they act like you're lucky to work here. They are losing staff and they will continue to lose staff while scratching their heads and wondering why everyone's leaving. Maybe eventually they'll figure out that if they respect their employees, people will stay. Don't work here unless you literally have no other option.
