Pros

Salary was decent, appreciated the remote work.

Cons

CEO is disorganized and demanding. Every other weekend there was a request to work at least one day. I would routinely get urgent fire drill requests which could have been avoided, but management got in the habit of demanding quick symptom relief from engineers and was unwilling to address the root cause of our routine fire drills. Product was poorly defined, as a result there were multiple ground-up rewrites and far reaching refactors in a span of four months. Whole teams experienced abrupt layoffs with zero notice or severance - jobs which were apparently cut now have open postings in Brazil and India, presumably to bring on cheaper labor.

Talented engineers in a highly micromanaged, burnout-prone culture

Pros

Strong engineering and research talent. Many individuals are highly skilled, hardworking, and collaborative despite the challenges in the organization.

Cons

Leadership culture is heavily micromanaged, with excessive focus on control rather than strategy, customer growth, or product vision. The CEO’s management style creates a high-pressure environment where leaders are often reprimanded instead of empowered, which negatively impacts morale across teams. There is no clear or stable product vision or long-term roadmap. Product direction frequently shifts, often driven by chasing what other companies have built rather than defining a differentiated offering. Teams are pushed to over-promise to customers without clarity on feasibility, leading to constant rework, fire drills, and burnout. Overall work environment feels disorganized and mentally exhausting due to unclear priorities and frequent last-minute changes. Even in a difficult job market, carefully consider the impact this environment may have on your mental well-being.
