Literally the Worst Employer I've Had in My Lifetime
Pros
The pay is below industry standard but decent for the region.
Cons
-Complete lack of leadership: the common game in management is to pass the hat of blame around; there is a tally of production supervisor's office of production supervisors the company has gone through. It's almost at thirty. -Nepotism: the VP of operations has a 25 year old know-nothing in charge of a line and is gearing towards production management. -Atmosphere: quite possibly the most unwelcoming, tightly-knit group imaginable. There is a constant fear that in instilled in management as well. Departments do not work together, they pass the blame. -Training: there is less than no training program available for newer employers. -Union-management relations: This management crew will bend over backwards for the highest paid BCTGM chapter in the state of Indiana. They hold your job in their palm of your hand so God forbid you take any disciplinary action. In my own experience, I was threatened with termination for reprimanding a union employee for leaving work early, clocking out, without notifying management. I am more than sure that this type of behavior will continue to be condoned. In a similar experience, an entire line left [with machinary running] and they were temporarily dismissed [but were brought back after a few months]. - I took several months of reflection before writing this so that there would solely be professionalism in this review... that being stated, I cannot suggest anyone in a management position of any sort to join the La Porte, Indiana team for Alpha Baking Company. Do your research: they have an absolutely horrible reputation. They were not given that reputation unfairly: it was earned over the course of decades.
