Terrible Management + Toxic Work Environment

Pros

Remote working environment (although they are switching to a fully in-office work model).

Cons

Not only is management completely disorganized, but PTO is non existent. They claim to have "unlimited PTO" but this is a complete scam. Management shames you for taking time off and you will find yourself being forced to work many (unpaid) over-time hours, including late week nights and weekends. After being a loyal employee to this company, working constant overtime hours with no breaks, I was wrongfully terminated from this company during a serious family emergency. The HR manager chopped it down to a "decline in performance," although I had never received a bad performance review prior to this termination - only raises and good reviews from fellow coworkers. My manager did not have my back when I was in and out of the hospital taking care of my sick partner after a serious medical emergency. Rather, I was terminated on the spot and was given bogus reasons.

UNFAIR and MISLEADING

Pros

The people are great! Upper Management is deceitful

Cons

No work life balance. The company founders listen with deaf ears and no results. The team players who put in all the work never get compensated but the Team Leaders are always mentioned in monthly calls. Bonuses are a joke IF you are ever lucky to get one. This company is a joke to work for, they only care about the bottom line and upper management. I would not recommend working for this company unless you like to be deceived. The job they hire you for is not what you end up doing and the more you know the more you have to take on with NO compensation!!! They talk behind each others backs cross state even with no regard of others feelings. Long hours with no regard for family life...just do your job 24/7 and you must respond to all emails immediately. What a joke. Good luck if you want to be ridiculed, paid unfairly and have no work-life balance. If you have no life this is the place to work and they expect you to do so even after hours you are required to respond to clients. Some are even expected to do so while on vacation.

Pros

They have a solid training program which will get you up to speed on PR basics, like how to use Cision and track for coverage, however, these trainings are basic and only useful to folks who are brand new to PR.

Cons

I worked at the company for just under two years, and in that time, saw countless employees quit, get fired, and even get sued. Management is the biggest issue at the company, or lack thereof. Salaries are embarrassingly low for the Bay Area. Promotion cycles slow and often delayed for months after what has been promised (with no explanation). The hours are grueling and unrewarding - junior staff puts in long hours, and is criticized for not working harder and longer. You can work until 9 pm at night, but if you're not back at your desk at 8:30 am on the nose the next morning you'll receive a stern talking to by management - which gives the sense of being babysat and micromanaged more than anything else. What's worse is that junior staff very rarely get to take credit for their work - client interaction and growth opportunities are few and far between. If you want a smart, strategic, forward-thinking agency, look elsewhere.
