Pros

Good opportunity for promotion within the company and nation wide opportunities within the company. If you like the idea of going to different places on a regular basis, travel and provide a service which is specialized and customer service oriented than this is it.

Cons

Schedule can be tough, on call service, work can be laborious.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for helping us assist families for over eight years! I know the work that we do is not easy – there is unpredictability, emergency calls on nights and weekends, long drives – but it is important. We believe in helping families, and it is your commitment and dedication to helping our customers that make our mission possible. We believe in providing career development and advancement within the company, locally and nationally; and we will take your advice to heart in committing to making even more investments into our field teams. We appreciate the feedback; please continue to share your thoughts on how to improve our organization.

Pros

There is good about this company. They have a revolving door of employees. Go to the company web site, they are always hiring. People quit due to the abusive way Aftermath treats their employees with constant scare tactics they will be fired and take advantage of employees. Aftermath does not have a conscience, they do not believe in ethics, they deceive grieving people into contracts they do understand, and promise grieving families the insurance company will take care of all the costs involved.

Cons

There are so many cons regarding Aftermath any employee could write a manifesto longer than the novel “War and Peace.” If one were to read the brochures they pass out at funeral home conventions, police conventions, or any other place they are able to market their business they would think Aftermath is a wonderful and caring company. It is an embarrassment, not a privilege, to admit to working for Aftermath. Unless you are willing to give up a personal life, have family, or have friends, you do not want to work for this company. Most employees are expected to 24/7. When I first started working there benefits were available after the first 90 days of employment. Without notification to current employees Aftermath changed this policy to no benefits for the first 180 days of employment. Upper management will get angry with an employee and just fire them. Aftermath is protected under the Right-to-Work laws. Aftermath will get mad at an employee, fire them, and then start a new policy if someone does what that person just did they will be fired as well. At least two or three new rules are created each week that will get an employee fired. Aftermath bills customers $285 per hour for the field technician supervisor and $275 per hour for each field technician. Typically all jobs have one supervisor and two technicians for each job. In reality, the field technicians and supervisors never actually work the full hour, but the customer still pays for the full hour. Half the time the crew is taking breaks and playing around. The labor costs are $285 per hour for the supervisor who does not do any of the cleaning. The supervisor sits in the van, comes in on occasion to see how the progress of the cleanup is going, takes a few pictures, and then goes back out in the van and talks on the phone. Of course they are diligently working on updating the case handler on the job status and typing reports. I pity anyone who has a conscious and gets hired there. If you have a conscious and do not want to be treated like the lowest form of life scum do not apply to work there. If you think I am just a bitter past employee I hope you learn your lesson, get hired there, and I will be reading your comments about how you should have taken my review more seriously.

Pros

- a LOT of overtime - unique experience - helping people in need - coworkers are okay depending on how your team is - when you get to clean a crime scene, it's honestly pretty cool - decent for getting experience in the field of forensics

Cons

- the overtime is forced depending on how big your team is - difficult manual labor - definitely ripping off people in need. every time, they're overcharged. trust me. - low low low low pay. here's my breakdown. Job time: $20/hr Drive time: $15/hr Being on the clock but doing nothing: $10/hr And sure, 20 an hour sounds fine. but you're cleaning up not just blood, but feces, urine, skin, brain matter, guts, and one time i found an entire unattached scalp. Not only that but it's HARD physical labor! sometimes you won't have access to a bathroom for hours at a time. You will also be cleaning up literal pounds of dead flies and live maggots. true, it's part of the job, but it's really heavy work with almost no pay. Long story short, I did the math, and my total salary in a year was $22,000. - no upward mobility unless you really bug them about it

Hi there, While we regret to hear the job wasn't a fit for you, we do not make it a secret that the work itself is hard both physically and even emotionally at times. Helping people move past violent tragedies in the home is a grisly, but necessary, business — and it's a process we take on so family members don't have to. When cleaning up after a homicide, suicide, or other accident, it's no secret that bodily fluids, and often more, will be involved. We do not "rip off" people in need. As you are aware, we provide a non-obligatory, free cost estimate of each job before we ever get started. Additionally, most home insurance policies cover the entirety of our costs; and we even work with the insurance company on the homeowner's behalf so they can do what matters most: grieving the loss of their loved one. We always value constructive criticism, so if you'd be willing to share more about your experience, we always have open minds. Get in touch if you'd like!
