      Cool industry. Bad management.

      Pros

      You get to work with a bunch of different technologies. Anything from web development to working on software used by handheld devices or ticket printers.

      Cons

      The monolithic codebase meant deployments were big and complicated. Deployment night would happen in the middle of the night and last for hours. Management expectations were unreasonable and unrealistic which ultimately resulted in a sloppy codebase that exacerbated many problems. Morale of the dev team was poor.

      PIP for legacy staffs. Alot of those >10 years staff quit.

      - Strong team environment - Work was not too challenging - Opportunities for suggesting innovation

      Cons

      - New management arrived and I was let go based off not knowing a particular library 11 months earlier. By the time I was let go, I was well-versed in that library, so it seems... less than productive to lay off someone for not knowing something in the past.
