Pros

Valuable time invested in this company by applying, interviewing, testing, and negotiating salary was time wasted, but eye-opening. I was given the gift of not wasting a single minute more on this career path by being "fired" on the first day. Apparently, the unpredictable idiosyncrasies of life that can make one late for an EXEMPT salaried (not hourly) career position are irrelevant. Apparently, like McDonalds, new hire's are a dime a dozen, so you are expendable, easily replaced with hundreds of equally talented, educated, and qualified people waiting to fill your spot. I'm being sarcastic, of course. The "pro" I'm getting at is that I was given the gift of not investing a single minute more in a company with reprehensible treatment of other human beings. We need to care about each other, not make another person's existence extinct.

Cons

Rigorous hiring process, 3 interviews or more, one over the phone, and 2 in person. An arduous online behavioral assessment, long delays in communication (e.g. returning phone calls and emails), zero feedback, job location is in a different city with a long commute. A lot of basic and vague information is relayed to job applicant regarding many aspects of the job that you're expected to take on and that are outside the job scope. Such as managing your own travel budget, being your own travel agent, zero discussion regarding compensation for required travel, expense accounts, whether you get a per diem or not, etc. First official job offer salary was insultingly below market BASELINE for an EXEMPT salaried position for a candidate with over a decade of specialized training, subject matter expertise, and Bachelor of Science degree, with the caveat that it was contingent upon passing a background check. I negotiated a new salary along with a release with my personal information. After almost a week, they made a new offer with and increase of < $3,000/year. I accepted and the job offer was signed and submitted. Apparently, they don't hold themselves to their own contracts. They never mentioned they had archaic stringent rules and values placed on punctuality. They never mention that start times are inflexible. They did however indicate how relaxed the environment was. That I'd be doing a lot of hard work, but when and where I did it would be up to me. Regardless, they reneged on their job offer when I got in the office for being late. Even though I notified them. Even though I drove 40 minutes flying at 95mph to get there ASAP. Even though I was not hired as an hourly employee, and even though first days are usually nothing but paperwork and forms, meet and greets, and orientation with an employee handbook which is the time you are usually told company rules regarding work schedules.

Pros

FT employees do not pay premiums for health benefits; Generous accrual of Paid time off. Generous 401K. State of the art equipment. Nice setting for the office.

Cons

Employees rarely take a chunk of time off even though they have the PTO accrued, and if they do, appears to be when CEO believes its convenient for the company.
