Pros

I worked there for 3 years and other than the great team of therapists there was nothing positive about working for Affirma.

Cons

I have been a physical therapist for 30 years in different areas of the country. I've worked for a variety of corporations, some thriving, some troubled and the managers well I've seen both competent and clueless. I thought I'd experienced it all until I took a job with Affirma. They took troubled and incompetent to a whole new level. Let me just say this, in the span of a year and a half, the successful, vibrant therapy department with a team of 13 therapists dwindled to a sad, defeated group of 4; each tired of being told how to practice in an environment with unrealistic and unethical expectations. Companies like Affirma need to be called out and therapists need to take back their profession, away from the productivity focused micromanaged nightmare it has become. Please if you interview with this company take great care before signing on.

Pros

Location is close to home.

Cons

Poor regard to individual treatment plans due to high productivity demands and lack of supplies. Everyone gets put on the ACP bikes for at least half their treatment time so the therapist can chart. No investment in their staff who are treated as indispensable work horses. As a PRN therapist, I only work half or less of my scheduled days. When I do work, I am usually given a much smaller number of hours than scheduled for when I agreed to work. I am often called off as late as 9-10 pm so I am unable to get other work that day. I have been in Affirma management also and have seen their poor way of treating staff, low-balling salaries, managers being told to work to have staff leave when they are injured so they won’t have to pay workers comp or unemployment. They are unable to keep the good experienced staff and they have become a training ground for new grads who then leave after a year but with poor training. This only lowers the integrity of the profession.
