Pros

The benefits are actually pretty great, and the company does have some serious goals so I never felt as if I wasn't actually working towards something. Many of my coworkers were great people I still have friendships with.

Cons

The management is awful. No respect for the level of work it actually takes to hit the absurd goals that were set within my own department. I often felt as if my own manager was treating me more like a disobedient child than an employee, which of course did nothing to actually inspire to work harder. I understand that this manager in particular has left, but he was a symptom of a disease within the company. Avoid ACCO if you can't handle toxic office politics and a total lack of basic respect.

Pros

If you can hold on long enough where you can be vested, and if they don't keep changing the rules on you, you can make a nice little fund from the ESOP. If you are an engineer or in construction management, I was told this was the best of the places, which is really sad when I think about it. I am giving one more star for the nice, but suffering, people who work here out of loyalty.

Cons

If you are not in engineering or sales or construction, do not work here. You are treated like a third-class citizen, and it can be even worse if you are not the ACCO homegrown type they like best - white, started with ACCO in Glendale, and a male with a stay-at-home wife and kids.

Used to be a great place to work

Pros

ESOP is the tie that binds

Cons

This used to be a great place to work. Teamwork and respect was very common for most people. It was enjoyable going to work. Now management is more concerned with their political posturing than anything else. Acco core values of honesty and collaboration is a bad joke. Management is more concerned about their piece of cheese. Screaming and cursing at employees is taught as an management attribute. Backstabbing and blatant lying is the way to success. Nepotism and cronyism is the only way to get ahead. Repeated professional failures is rewarded as long as you kiss up to the right people.
